What is a digital (CAD/CAM) dental lab?
Digital dentistry means designing and making restorations from a scan rather than a plaster model alone. A practice takes an intraoral scan, sends the file to the lab, and the restoration is designed on screen (CAD) and milled or printed by machine (CAM). Done well, it is faster, more repeatable and easier to store and re-make.
The catch is that many labs describe themselves as "digital" while only part of the chain is actually theirs. Ours is genuinely in-house end to end: a Trios 5 scanner with a heated tip, 3Shape and Zirkonzahn design software, multiple milling machines for zirconia, PMMA and PEEK, resin printers and an electropolisher. The only step that leaves the building is cobalt-chrome casting, which Skillbond does for us. We do not claim titanium: milling it needs a wet-milling set-up we have deliberately not put in, so we would rather tell you that than imply a capability we do not have.
We move with the times without leaving anyone behind. You do not have to go digital to work with us, and we will never make you feel behind for sending an impression.

Conventional impressions accepted too
No scanner? No problem. We accept conventional impressions exactly as we always have. There is no obligation to go digital to work with us.
Exactly what this service is, and is not
Digital or conventional, your choice: we take STL from any scanner and still take impressions
We mill your practice's cases in-house, start to finish
We do not offer milling to other laboratories
Not chairside or CEREC: you send us the case, we design and make it
The whole digital chain under one roof, so nothing critical is sub-contracted
From your scan to a fitted restoration
You scan and send
Scan in the surgery and send the STL through your scanner's portal or WeTransfer. No scanner? Send a conventional impression by courier or post.
We design it
The restoration is designed in 3Shape or Zirkonzahn to your prescription, with the fit and occlusion planned before anything is made.
We mill or print in-house
It is milled or printed on our own machines, in zirconia, PMMA or PEEK, then finished and, where needed, electropolished. Titanium is the one we do not mill, as that needs a wet-milling set-up we have not put in.
Back to you on time
The finished work returns by our local courier round or nationwide post, checked and ready to fit.
A full digital workflow, genuinely in-house
Plenty of labs say "digital" when a scan goes in and the milling goes out to someone else. Ours does not. The whole chain lives here: a Trios 5 scanner with a heated tip, 3Shape and Zirkonzahn design, milling machines for zirconia, PMMA and PEEK, resin printers and an electropolisher.
For a practice, in-house control means fewer hand-offs, tighter quality and a straight answer when you ask how a case is going, because the person you speak to is the person making it.

Collected locally, posted nationwide
Sending work should be the easy part. Locally, we run courier collection rounds. Further afield, we offer a nationwide postal service with pre-addressed packaging, so a case is one drop-off away.
Digital cases move fast because the design and milling are under one roof. Whether you scan or take an impression, the work comes back checked and on time.
